Starting the optaro® App


With optaro® you can upgrade your smartphone to a fully functional reading aid in no time at all:

1. Download the app

Download the optaro® app from the Apple App Store or via the QR code shown below. To do so, you may need to log in to the Apple App Store or enter your Apple ID and password.

2. Switch on optaro®’s camera module

Switch on the optaro® camera module by pressing the white On/O button. The status LED on the top lights up blue.

3. Open the app

Open the optaro® app on your smartphone.

4. Press "Next"

Press „Next“ in the optaro® app.

5. Confirm the terms of service

Confi rm that you have read and agree to the terms of service by ticking the box. You must agree to the terms of service in order to use the app and the optaro® camera module.

6. Press "Next"

7. Search for Wi-Fi device

To be able to use optaro® with the app, a local Wi-Fi connection is established between your iPhone and optaro®. iOS requires permission to find nearby Wi-Fi devices.
Press „Allow“.

8. Enter optaro® SSID

You will be asked to enter the optaro® SSID once for its initial setup. This can be done in two ways:

a) By manually entering the SSID in the fi eld provided

b) By scanning the QR code on the type plate

If you want to establish a connection by scanning the QR code, you need to authorise the optaro® app to access the camera on your iPhone.

9. Press "Next"

The set-up process will begin.

10. Agree to the connection

The connection between optaro® and your iPhone must be approved during the set-up process. After successfully connecting, the status LED of the camera module switches from blue to green.
The main screen of the app is displayed.

11. Installing optaro®

Now place optaro® and your smartphone in the corresponding case or use the universal stand: optaro® is ready for use.
To exit the optaro® app, swipe from bottom to top or press the Home button.

To reset the app and the camera module, proceed as follows and in this order:

Open the settings menu in the app.

Reset the app using the „Reset to factory settings˝ function. This function will also reset the camera module at the same time if it is correctly connected (LED lights up green).

If the camera module is not connected, the camera module must be reset as well. To do this, press and hold the On/O button until the status LED fl ashes. The components are reset. Another iPhone can now be connected to the optaro® camera module.
